Magen David Adom, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry - the department dealing with Israelis abroad, and the Israeli Consul in Turkey, Shmulik Shalem - offered its help to the parents of Shai and Nir Chakim, who were killed yesterday in a tragic accident, in the hotel in which they were staying in Turkey.
MDA, which acts not only as the largest life saving organisation in Israel, but also as a humanitarian organisation, took over the responsibility for bringing home the bodies of the two youths to Israel, as it did after the plane crash in Pukhet, Thailand.
As soon as MDA Director General, Eli Bin, heard of the difficulties that had arisen, he ordered his staff to help the family arrange the flight of the bodies home to Israel, with the help of the organisation, and to cover the costs and help in any way possible until they were brought home for burial.
The MDA Director General gave his authorization for MDA to deal with the matter, together with the Foreign Office and the Consul. The plane, with the two boys' bodies on board, is due to land in Israel today at about 12.00p.m local time.
