Ceremony for the dedication of a Mobile Intensive Care Unit in the Neve Shaanan Stadium in Haifa, during the Maccabiah Games

04-08-09 , 12:36

Mr. Lewis Rose and his children, Bradley, Samantha and Ashley, from Toronto, Canada, donated a Mobile Intensive Care Unit through the Friends of MDA in Canada.

The MICU is in the MDA station in Nahariya, and up until now has been called upon to treat about 2,500 patients and wounded.  The donors chose to have the dedication ceremony in the Football Stadium in Neve Shaanan, Haifa, during the Maccabiah Games.

Bradley, the oldest son, is in the Canadain Footbal team at the Maccabiah and Samantha was also in Israel representing Canada in women's soccer in the Maccabiah Games.

Before the ceremony we watched an enthralling football game, with a lot of goals, between the Canadian and Swiss teams.  Bradley kicked the winning goal a few minutes before the end of the game, ensuring a 3-2 victory for the Canadian team.

Shimon Biton - the Director of the Carmel Region, Erez Geller - Paramedic in charge of the Carmel Region and Itai Davidi - a long serving Paramedic from the Asher Region, and an ambulance team from the Carmel Region, standing on call at the Games, all celebrated with members of the family.

The family's rejoicing and that of the MDA personnel who in this instance supported the Canadian team was a double one.

We were privileged to get to know and to appreciate and rejoice with this warm and generous family who are actively carrying out the Zionist spirit, the Maccabiah spirit and the spirit of volunteering shown by MDA in Israel and abroad.
