RENOVATED MDA STATION DEDICATED IN TZOCHAR

The new Magen David Adom station was dedicated in Tzochar, which is in the area of the Eshkol Regional Council - in memory of our third prime minister, Levi Eshkol. The station will serve some 11,500 residents of the northwest Negev in 31 Council communities and villages (agriculture) on an area of the Council extending over 760,000 dunams of land.

Participating in the modest ceremony were Haim Yellin, head of the Eshkol Regional Council, Dr.Eitan Chai-Am, General Director of the Ministry of Health, Eli Bin, MDA Director General, Yehuda Shoshan, MDA southern district director, Itzik Alfassi, MDA Negev regiont director, a representative of the family of Irving and Charna Moskowitz, the donors, as well as workers and volunteers of the Negev region.

In addition to providing the residents with emergency medical care, the new station will serve as a regional community medical center with medical specialists and a medical center functioning at night.

Dr. Eitan Chai-Am, General Director of the Ministry of Health, he and whose family are longtime residents of Kibbutz Magen in the area under the jurisdiction of the Eshkol Regional Council, pointed out that Magen David Adom is an inseparable part of the security arrangement for the protection of the Negev. "At the time of Operation Cast Lead and in the period preceding it, I saw the devotion of MDA teams and their professionalism under the supervision of MDA Director General, Eli Bin, who personally arrived at all the incidents so as to stand over the activity at close range."

Eli Bin, MDA Director General, emphasized the importance of closing the gap between the country's center and periphery. "The renovated and advanced MDA station in Tzochar will offer residents of the periphery services, medical aid and professional people such as can be found in the center of the country."
