On 16th of August, Magen David Adom delegation arrived in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, in order to continue the fruitful relationship between Magen David Adom in Israel and the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan. The members of the MDA delegation - Borya Kozokin , David Appelbaum (both Paramedics-Instructors) are accompanied by Rabbi Yossi Ives, a representative of Magen David Adom UK, are conducting a Training of Trainers in First Aid for the staff of the AzRC. This is a second training held in the AzRC, and it's a part of ongoing cooperation between the two societies.
On the 17th of August, a dedication ceremony for a new First Aid training center in the city of Kobe, refurbished through support of MDA Israel and MDA UK, was held in the HQ of the AzRC in Baku. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Novruz Aslanov, the President of theAzRC and Mr. Michael Lavon-Lotem, the new Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan. The Ambassador said that it is his first week in the office, and it is very symbolic that his first visit, as the Isreali Ambassador happened to be in the AzRC, together with the personnel from MDA. The Ambassador pointed out the great value of saving lives and was very moved to witness that MDA is contributing to this cause not only in Israel, but also in Azerbaijan.
Rabbi Ives, who has supported this project from the beginning, presented Mr.Aslanov a certificate of donation of 4000 dollars for the operation of the Kobe new training center.
Parallel to MDA activity with the AzRc, another Israeli delegation is engaged in humanitarian activity in Azerbaijan: Eye From Zion, together with "Hedim" Institute, MASHAV, the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Embassy of Israel in Baku have set up a clinic for hearing-impaired children, and the Israeli experts are accessing the children's needs and provide them with hearing aids. This activity is coordinated by Mr. Nari Marcus, CEO of Eye From Zion.
MDA activity is panned to continue until 23th of August, but even after the delegation's departure, the newly acquired knowledge in providing and instructing First Aid will stay within the hearts of the participants of the training, for benefit of the population of Azerbaijan. |
