WHEN DID YOU LAST SAVE A LIFE IN ISRAEL?
Yochai Porat was the first overseas program coordinator for the Magen David Adom Overseas Volunteer Program. He worked tirelessly to create a personal relationship with each participant.
On March 3rd, 2002, Yochai was on reserve duty for the IDF as the medic for his unit. While trying to rescue a comrade who had been shot, Yochai was murdered by a Palestinian sniper.

Yochai committed his life to helping others and being a role model for his overseas volunteers. Because of his tremendous foresight, the program has brought over 7000 overseas volunteers to Israel. The MDA Overseas Volunteer Program was officially named in Yochai's memory in 2002.
Yochai is survived by his parents, brothers and sister and by countless individuals whose lives have been touched by his efforts.
May his memory be blessed.
