Special award presented to mayor of Kiryat Ono
The highest award by Magen David Adom was presented to Kiryat Ono Mayor Yisrael Gal.
The highest honor in MDA - "Honorary Member of Magen David Adom" - was presented by Director General Eli Bin to the mayor of Kiryat Ono, Yisrael Gal. It was presented in recognition of many years of the mayor's work with and support of MDA's activities, his open door policy, his availability, his round the clock assistance and his unstoppable work for the benefit of the health of Israel's citizens and to the success of Magen David Adom.
During the Corona crisis, Mayor Gal instructed the various municipal departments to support MDA's activities, immediately providing buildings and areas around MDA's National Operations Center (NOC) in Kiryat Ono in order to establish further call centers. This allowed the NOC to expand and have hundreds of call takers on shift at all times, answering tens of thousands of calls each day, and managing the entire system for Covid testing at a national level.
