MDA Magen David Adom in Israel - National Rescue Organization

Today, at 12:24, a call was received at MDA’s 101 Emergency Dispatch Center in the Jerusalem region to a 4-month-old infant girl who was found unconscious at a daycare center in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem. Magen David Adom forces were immediately dispatched to the scene and began resuscitation efforts and evacuated the infant to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

While MDA teams were evacuating the infant, they were called back into the scene following an additional infant who was found unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. He too was evacuated while MDA teams fought to save his life and performed resuscitation efforts en route to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital. Large MDA forces were dispatched to the scene, including ambulances, mobile intensive care units and MDA emergency medicycles, which began searches and evacuated 53 infants and children who were present at the complex and were fully conscious, for further examinations at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital and Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center.

In Summary: 2 infants, a boy and a girl, approximately 4 months old, in critical condition, evacuated while undergoing resuscitation efforts, 53 infants and children evacuated from the complex for further examinations in hospital emergency rooms.

Simultaneously, MDA teams were dispatched to treat a approximately two-week-old infant girl who was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, in the city of Safed, and evacuated her to Ziv Medical Center in critical condition while performing resuscitation efforts. MDA teams were also dispatched to treat a approximately three-week-old infant girl, also unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, in a community in southern Sharon region, and she was evacuated to Schneider Children’s Medical Center in critical condition while undergoing resuscitation efforts.

MDA Paramedic Nadav Tayeb and Senior MDA EMT Yair Aba Shaul said: “This is a difficult incident. We were called to the scene to treat a 4-month-old infant girl who was found unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing at a daycare center. We began providing life-saving medical treatment, including resuscitation efforts, and evacuated her to the hospital. We were then called back to the scene to treat another infant who was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. We dispatched large numbers of MDA responders to the scene, who arrived in ambulances and mobile intensive care units, and we began evacuating all of the infants who were present at the location.”

MDA volunteer physician Dr. Menachem Estrik said: “Dozens of infants and children were present in the building. We began conducting searches and medical examinations of the infants and children who were at the scene, while placing them into MDA ambulances and mobile intensive care units and evacuating them to hospitals in the city for further medical treatment.”
