Beit She'an Honors MDA
A ceremony dedicating a traffic circle to Magen David Adom was held in Beit She'an this week
A ceremony was held on Wednesday to dedicate "MDA Square" with the "Heart of the Matter" sculpture near to Beit She'an Station. The ceremony was held in the presence of Mayor Jacky Levy, the donor and artist Jeanne Kid, MDA Director General Eli Bin, senior MDA management, and the employees and volunteers of Beit She'an MDA Station.
The Beit She'an municipality initiated the special event, as a thank you for Magen David Adom's many years of service to the region, and in particular during the corona pandemic. Beit She'an Station is on of the largest in the Gilboa Region and serves the residents of Beit She'an and the surrounding towns.
Mayor of Beit She'an, Jacky Levy: "From the moment I realized what the sculpture represented, it was clear to me that the square would be named in MDA's honor. This is an organization that is our beating heart, 365 days a year. I would like to thank my friend Eli Bin, MDA's Director General, for his cooperation over many years, as well as MDA's volunteers and employees across Israel and in Beit She'an in particular, and of course to artist Jeanne Kidd who gave her heart and soul to this sculpture here on this square, just next to MDA's Beit She'an Station."
Jeanne Kidd, artist, Tennessee, USA: "The sculpture is dedicated to Magen David Adom in memory of my step-father Yaakov Natan Fayerman. I started with the stone, sculpting it into the shape of a heart. The concept is all about healing of body and mind, and so I dedicated it to you, Magen David Adom - both to thank you for what you do and because it represents everything you work for."
Eli Bin, MDA Director General: "On behalf of the entire organization - all its employees and volunteers, I'd like to thank Mr. Jacky Levy and the municipality who chose this exciting initiative. I'm certain that any MDA employee or volunteer who travels round here will feel pride. I thank Jeanne Kidd for the special sculpture that emphasizes the heart of Magen David Adom's work. We have cooperation every day with the municipality, and this is especially true throughout Corona. I thank the mayor for this special gesture - a traffic circle named in honor of Magen David Adom."
