Yedidya's Miracle Recovery
Just 6 months ago, Yedidya's life hung in the balance, until he was saved by MDA staff
Just six months ago, Yedidya's life hung in the balance. At less than two years old, he was pulled unconscious from a pool in his home in Modiin Illit. His parents, Esther and Evyatar, frantically called MDA's emergency 101 numbers, and the dispatcher immediately began to give CPR instructions, as well as sending first responders and a mobile intensive care (MICU) team.
The MICU team, led by MDA Paramedic Yael Ankonina, and with EMTs Amit Kapach, Shalom Cohen, and Yuval Karp joined first responders paramedic Yitzchak Noygershel, and EMTs Yitzchak Lermer, Yair Ohana, and Moshe Fuchs in providing advanced resuscitation to Yedidya. They performed CPR for some time, until Yedidya's heart began to beat again, and then conveyed him to hospital where he received further treatment. After four months in hospital, he was discharged home, with no neurological damage.
The Siman-Tov Family chose to thank the MDA teams by inviting them to a celebratory, thanksgiving event, where the EMTs and paramedics who saved little Yedidya would get to meet him again, this time fully conscious and with a big smile on his face.
Evyatar Siman-Tov: "MDA's EMTs and Paramedics really fought for Yedidya's life. This was a huge miracle for us, and we knew we had to invite the people who saved his life, so we could thank them with a big smile. Thank you, on behalf of the whole family, to the angels in white who fought tirelessly to save Yedidya. Thanks to them, and to the prayers of all of Israel, we merited to witness this miracle in front of our eyes."
MDA Paramedic Yael Ankonina: "Treating a small child always touches our heart. From the moment I handed him over to the hospital staff, I couldn't stop thinking about him. The phone call I received from his parents who told me that he had fully recovered surprised me, and made me and the whole team very emotional. We were very pleased to receive the invitation to this celebration, that was very special. To hold Yedidya in my arms and see the smile on his face caused me great fulfillment, and gives us the strength to continue saving lives."
