Hundreds of MDA EMTs and Paramedics take part in national war-games style national drill

Magen David Adom is taking part in a national 3-day drill in which MDA teams will face the challenge of treating victims in multiple scenes across the north of Israel. The Asher and Carmel MDA regions will play host to the exercise, and MDA's special reserve unit will be deployed, in order to practice providing treatment across multiple security-related scenarios.

MDA teams will face multiple scenarios, including mortar fire across the northern border, rocket fire towards Haifa, and shooting attacks across various sites. At the peak of the exercise, alongside police, fire and rescue and the IDF, MDA teams will deal with a multi-casualty incident drill, with 90 patients, in Sami Ofer Stadium in Haifa.

During the 3-day drill, the 101 Emergency Call Center in Haifa will deal with attacks in 5 different civilian sites. As well as protecting the blood supplies in the Haifa-based blood bank, MDA ambulances and medicycles will attend scenes in multiple areas, and treat victims of the multiple rocket-attack sites.

Felix Lotan, Emergency Preparedness Manager in MDA: "The multi-scene drill that Magen David Adom is holding along with other national organizations will help us deal with a significant incident and to be better prepared for an attack on the home front. MDA teams regularly train in different scenarios, and are constantly highly prepared for any incident."

MDA Director General Eli Bin: "MDA teams regularly drill extreme scenarios including war and disasters, in order to be prepared to provide the highest level of care. MDAs EMTs and Paramedics are prepared for a multitude of scenarios, and in this drill we decided to recruit the MDA reserve unit. There's no doubt that a complex drill, with hundreds of EMTs and paramedics across multiple sites, strengthens the cooperation with the other national rescue and security organizations and reinforces the professional preparedness of the teams."
