4 new bullet-proof ambulances begin service with MDA
Communities in Ariel, Efrat, Ofra and Karnei Shomron welcome new life-saving vehicles
Four new, specialized mobile intensive care units (MICUs) began service this week in Magen David Adom. Two were donated through Israeli Friends of Magen David Adom, including one donated in memory of MDA Paramedic Noam Raz who fell in the line of duty as a border police officer in the counter-terrorism unit. The other two MICUs were donated through the American Friends of MDA (AFMDA). One of these was donated "In honor of the brave people of Ukraine" after the donor heard that MDA had donated bulletproof ambulances to the medical efforts in Ukraine, and decided to bolster MDA's fleet with a bullet-proof MICU. The second AFMDA donation was from the Braman Family Foundation of Miami, Florida.
The four new MICUs that have already entered service, will serve the residents in and around the communities of Ariel, Efrat, Ofra and Karnei Shomron, and are equipped to protect MDA teams and patients in high-risk areas. The MICUs carry full equipment, and allow teams to arrive at scenes in areas that are under threat.
MDA Deputy Director General of Operations Gil Moshkowitz: "Over the years we have witnessed serious events in and around the communities where these bulletproof MICUs have been stationed. These vehicles that now join MDA's fleet not only save patients' lives, but also allows a safe work environment for our EMTs and Paramedics who often face life-threatening field conditions."
MDA Director General Eli Bin: "We congratulate our honored donors and thank them for their donation that is both significant and cannot be taken for granted. This donation will help save lives across Judea and Samaria. MDA teams are well-versed in treatment at terror scenes and difficult incidents, including times that they were under fire and where their lives were under threat. Your donation will strengthen MDA's ability to treat and assist patients in complex scenarios, using modern vehicles with the most advanced medical capabilities in the world."
