Youth Training Youth
Youth volunteers from across Israel gathered for an educational conference in Modiin
Magen David Adom's Youth volunteers are unique - they train and qualify as ambulance first responders, the youngest in the world who join shifts on the ambulances and mobile intensive care units (MICUs), starting from 15 years old. But what makes that unique even more special, is that those who train the youth, are youth volunteers themselves! Once a first responder has completed several months of training and volunteering, they can join a trainers' course, teaching them to prepare the next in line for the challenge of being an MDA youth volunteer.
A conference with almost 500 of these youth trainers took place this week in Modiin, with many educational elements, and even a team quiz just for fun. The event was attended by Dr. Eli Jaffe, Deputy Director General of Community in MDA, and Itamar Abramovitch, Volunteers Department Manager.
Magen David Adom's youth volunteers are not only leaders among their peers, but they also often become the next generation of paramedics and EMTs in MDA, constantly striving for excellence and to improve their skills in the field of emergency medicine.
