Ninety new paramedics received their certificates yesterday, adding them officially to the best life-saving family in the world – Magen David Adom.

Over the years, MDA has explored different paths to the coveted Paramedic qualification, and this ceremony was particularly special – 71 of the latest paramedics are on their civilian National Service.

The unique course sees the participants volunteering for an extra year of national service, studying and serving the State of Israel on MDA's Mobile Intensive Care Units for a total of three years.

Other newly qualified paramedics included 9 from the Yeshiva student program which is in its tenth year, and 10 MDA employees.

The ceremony, attended by MDA Director General Eli Bin, along with course providers, senior MDA staff, several members of the Knesset, Yeshiva staff, and of course the family and friends of the newly qualified paramedics.

Director General Eli Bin welcomed and congratulated the new paramedics, adding that a paramedic is someone who saves lives 24 hours a day, and showing appreciation to their families for making it possible that the grueling role played by the new paramedics is a little easier with their support.

Magen David Adom has trained over 4,000 paramedics since its first course in 1979. The National Service course is in its seventh year, and many of those who qualified through this unique route, have remained as members of staff and volunteers within MDA.

Congratulations to all the new Magen David Adom Paramedics!
