Jerusalem Municipality Salutes MDA
Five MDA EMTs and Paramedics presented with certificates by Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion
The Jerusalem Municipality, in the presence of Mayor Moshe Lion, held a ceremony saluting the emergency services in the city. Certificates of excellence were presented to 5 members of Magen David Adom staff -3 volunteers and 2 employees.

Moti Glostein, 35 years old, a resident of Jerusalem, works as an ambulance driver and a senior EMT. Four months ago, Moti and his family were leaving a Rav Shefa shopping mall on Shamgar Street, when suddenly a bus lost control and sped towards the sidewalk they were standing on. The bus hit many pedestrians who were standing there, including his sister-in-law and his two nieces who were standing next to him. Moti, who quickly understood the difficult situation, kept calm and began to treat the various victims, while giving a detailed report to MDA's Dispatch Center about the incident. While performing life-saving operations, it became clear that his late sister-in-law Shoshana, who was in advanced stages of pregnancy, and her young daughters, The Sara and Channa were killed. He was awarded a certificate of appreciation for his actions at this incident.
Shimon Zaltz, 20 years old, a resident of Jerusalem, is an MDA EMT who works on an immediate response vehicle. Shimon was driving last October near the Shuafat refugee camp, when he suddenly heard gunshots from the direction of the checkpoint. Within seconds he arrived at the scene of the attack, in which it became clear that a terrorist had fired in the direction of soldiers and security guards stationed at the checkpoint. Shimon began attempts to resuscitate and treat the late IDF fighter Noa Lazar, while the shooting continued all around. Shimon continued to provide medical treatment in an attempt to stabilize her condition and save her life, all while risking his own life on the battlefield.
Akiva Erlich, 57 years old, a resident of Gush Adumim, Senior MDA Paramedic. He was also caught up in the attack at the Shuafat refugee camp checkpoint. Akiva, who was working at the time as a paramedic in the mobile intensive care unit (MICU), was called to the incident. Within a few minutes he and his team arrived at the scene and began treating David Morel, the security guard at the checkpoint, who was seriously injured by the shooting. Despite the incessant shooting at the scene, Akiva rescued David and evacuated him to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital, while performing life-saving operations.
Shimon Goldstein, 28, a resident of Jerusalem, last August a bus near the Western Wall was fired at by a terrorist, and injured 8 people. Shimon Zvi Goldstein, a first responder EMT, was located by the dispatch system when he was very close to the scene of the attack, and within a few minutes he arrived at the scene and found himself alone with several casualties. Shimon began treating the victims according to the severity of their condition, while making a telephone report to the MDA Dispatch Center about the condition of the victims, which helped in understanding the extent of the incident and dispatching the appropriate amount of forces to the scene.
Ora Glitzer, 23 years old, a resident of Beit Shemesh, works as a dispatch center operator and a shift manager at Magen David Adom's 101 Emergency Dispatch Center in the Jerusalem area. Ora started in MDA as part of her National Service, as a paramedic in ambulances and intensive care vehicles. About three years ago, she began working in the emergency dispatch center, and thanks to her high operational capabilities, she quickly advanced to the position of duty manager. In recent months, she has managed a number of unusual and complex incidents, from terror incidents, serious accidents and more. Ora gives of herself with endless devotion and everything she does is done quietly, efficiently and professionally.
