Italian donors visit MDA and leave a lasting legacy
Over 20 supporters from Italy and Turkey visited Magen David Adom, after donating two medicycles and a rapid response vehicle (RRV)
Over 20 Italian supporters of Magen David Adom visited two MDA sites - the National Operations Center (NOC) in Kiryat Ono, and the new Marcus National Blood Services Center (MNBSC) in Ramla.
At the NOC they were welcomed by paramedic Aryeh Myers of the International Relations Department, who gave them an overview of MDA throughout the years. They heard about the technology that has been developed by Magen David Adom and that is now being used by other emergency services both in Israel and across the world. They were introduced to the life-saving innovations in MDA such as the public-access defibrillators and first responder system, both of which improve chances or survival in critical cases, day and night. They were then given a tour of the NOC itself and saw first-hand how calls are answered almost instantly (the average time was 1 second!), and how the system works so that teams across the country can communicate with ease, even when not in their own regions.
The group then travelled to the MNBSC in Ramla, where they were welcomed by Deputy Director General of Blood Services, Dr. Eilat Shinar, as well as the Director of the International Relations Department, Yonatan Yagodovsky. They were given a tour of the center, seeing for themselves how this uniquely built blood services center will protect Israel's blood supplies even under threat of conventional and non-conventional warfare, earthquakes and other threats to Israel. They then dedicated three new life-saving vehicles - one Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) and two medicycles. One of these was donated in honor of the Italian Republic President, Sergio Mattarella, described by Sami Sisa, chairperson of the MDA Italia Friends' Association, as a great friend of Israel and promoter of peace in the region.
