Health Minister Uriel Busso visited Kiryat Magen David Adom in Ramle. During the visit, Busso toured the National Blood Bank, visiting the labs where the blood units are processed after being collected across Israel. The National Blood Bank, that is secure and blast-proof, is built underground, and supplies blood units to hospitals and the IDF during routine and emergency times.

The minister also visited the National Human Milk Bank that is also in Ramle, where mother’s milk is processed after being donated to premature babies and infants whose mothers are unable to nurse.

During his visit, the minister spoke to a delegation of the MDA Friends’ Societies from around the world who were at the annual IMDAC conference. In his speech, the minister said: “MDA, as Israel’s National Rescue Organization, has an integral and significant part to play in the strength of the health system. You, the people of MDA, are the first to respond to every call, reaching every event during routine times, as well as emergency times such as those on October 7. I don’t think that there are any other organizations across the world who have had to deal with the events, the extreme situations and the heart-wrenching dilemmas in the way that MDA did on the morning of October 7, and in the challenging days that followed.”

Minister Busso is an active MDA volunteer, and knows all too well the dedicated work of the staff and volunteers of MDA across the whole of Israel.”
