MDA paramedic and his daughter saved the life of a person who collapsed during an event for Memorial Day in Haifa
MDA Paramedic Tzvika Malkis returned from a night shift in MDA and arrived as in every year to participate in the Memorial Day ceremony at one of the high schools in Haifa. Shortly after his arrival he was called by the cries of the crowd for help to a person who had collapsed. Malkis found him unconscious and not breathing and immediately began CPR. At the same time, the intensive care team of
Magen David Adom, who medically secured the event, arrived at the site, with Malkis’s daughter, 17, a MDA youth volunteer. Together, they gave him an advanced medical treatment that included chest comparisons and electric shocks of a defibrillator, he regained his pulse and consciousness. Within minutes he was evacuated to Carmel Hospital in Haifa, in stable condition and fully aware.
* MDA Paramedic Tzvika Malkis: "Both my daughter and I are accustomed to such scenes, in such a incident you act automatically, I began to provide compressions , while I asked to call the MDA team who had medically secured the place. If there was no defibrillator or we were not there, this case might have ended in disaster, every person can save lives, and we have proof of it every day, and that affects the outcome.
On this sad day of the year and just before Independence Day, I am excited to save lives alongside my daughter who continues the lineage and with the help of the other MDA teams who arrived at the site. "
* MDA paramedics Tom Grishin and Rachel Cohen, who continued medical treatment and evacuation to the hospital: * During the evacuation to the hospital he regained full consciousness gradually . We explained to him what had happened and transfer him to the hospital staff in stable condition and smiling. To arrive such an incident and provide such a quick and immediate response and save lives - there is no better feeling. We are here to save lives, and it is the cases with such results that give us the motivation to move on. We wish him full health and fast return home. "
