"This year, I am dressing up as Aunt Amit"

12.03.2025 20:31

The central and ancient tradition of Purim is dressing up. Among the wide variety of costumes, some choose to dress up as superheroes they admire and feel their superpowers for one day

One of them is 8-year-old Halleli Cohen from Netivot. She didn't need a cape, makeup, or special equipment for her costume, just a Magen David Adom uniform with orange paramedic stripes on the sleeves, and a large heart pendant bearing the name Amit Man.

This year, Halleli touched her family and the MDA family when she decided to dress up as her beloved aunt, MDA paramedic and paramedic course instructor in the Negev, Amit Man of blessed memory, who was murdered when she was shot by terrorists who entered the clinic in Kibbutz Be'eri while she treated the wounded on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

"Amit of blessed memory was an amazing aunt, all her nieces and nephews loved her very much. Amit would take Halleli and her other nieces and nephews to Kibbutz Be'eri's petting zoo to spend quality time with them. Halleli's costume deeply moved the entire family," shares Rachel Man, Amit's mother and Halleli's grandmother.
