12.09.2024 20:28

Today (Thursday), at 16:44, an emergency report was received by the Magen David Adom's 101 Emergency Call Center in the Ayalon region about a car that exploded while parked on the sidewalk near a store and residential building on Herzl Boulevard in Ramla

Large MDA forces, including ambulances, mobile intensive care units, and MDA responders on medicycles, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Within 2 minutes, at 16:46, the first MDA team arrived at the location.

MDA EMTs and paramedics provided medical treatment and evacuated 12 injured casualties to Assaf Harofeh and Kaplan Hospitals, including:
5 unconscious victims in critical condition who inhaled significant smoke and were evacuated while resuscitation efforts were underway, including: a woman around 50 years old, a 15-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and a 1-month-old infant.
2 casualties in moderate condition from shrapnel and blast injuries (a man and a woman in their 50s).
5 casualties in light condition from shrapnel and blast injuries.*

MDA EMT Benny Cohen, who was the first to arrive at the scene, reported:

“I arrived and saw a large commotion around a car that had exploded and caught fire. As a result of the explosion, several passersby were injured by the blast and shrapnel. Together with additional MDA teams that arrived, we began providing medical treatment. While treating the injured, we noticed that the fire had spread to a nearby store. The burning car was parked next to the store entrance, which prevented people inside the store from getting out. We moved the injured we were treating away from the fire scene. Firefighting teams that arrived at the location rescued victims from both the store and the residential building above the store. The rescued victims were unconscious, and our teams began advanced resuscitation efforts and transported them to hospitals in critical condition.”

MDA paramedic Liat Cohen said: “This is a very severe incident. Our initial teams began providing medical treatment to those with moderate and mild injuries from shrapnel and blunt injuries, and evacuated them to the hospital. Additional large MDA forces, including intensive care units and ambulances, joined the firefighting teams. During the firefighting efforts, they rescued 5 unconscious victims from the store and nearby apartments, including a woman around 50 years old, a 15-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and a 1-month-old infant. All suffered from smoke inhalation and were transported to the hospital in critical condition while resuscitation efforts were ongoing.”
