Tzofit Gave Birth in an Ambulance Returned to Say Thank You
Tzofit Naim (29) from Netivot intended on giving birth in the delivery room of a hospital, but her newborn daughter had different plans. When she and her husband Zion understood that the baby was arriving quickly and that they would not make it to the hospital in time, they did not think twice and called MDA's 101 Emergency Dispatch Center.
MDA's team arrived to the scene rapidly, and after medical examination the team transferred Tzofit to the MICU. Shortly after, before they began evacuation to the hospital, the baby was born with the assistance of MDA paramedic Ofir Perez and MDA Senior EMT Aviah Hazeroni.
"It happened so quickly, I never thought that my birth would progress so rapidly. The team was amazing, their kind words and smiles were so significant to me in those very moments," recounted Tzofit.
A few days after the birth, Tzofit arrived to the MDA station in Netivot, met the EMT and paramedic who delivered her baby, and gave them a thank you letter. "A team of angels, you arrived with gentleness, the right words, and of course with professionalism," wrote Tzofit, "you were so sensitive, you checked, asked, and took interest. Thank you for your patience, care, sensitivity, wide smiles, and professionalism."
MDA paramedic Ofir Perez told in response to his exciting experience: "I have been a paramedic in MDA for many years, and different medical situations require you to operate with level-headedness and professionalism. A birth in an ambulance is undoubtedly something especially exciting and causes happiness. The ideal place for a mother and her newborn is the delivery room of a hospital, but when the pregnancy advances and progresses rapidly, the right thing to do, without a doubt, is to call MDA's teams. Personally, I thank Tzofit for her gratitude and recognition. It is definitely not taken for granted and made us very joyful and excited."
