MDA's Year in Numbers - 2021

Magen David Adom had another very busy year in 2021! As well as dealing with constant routine emergencies, the ongoing Covid pandemic had a huge impact on MDA, and as usual, MDA excelled at the task. Volunteers and employees provided vaccines across the country, ran testing stations, and conveyed thousands of Covid patients to hospitals. 2,000 ambulances, from 189 stations, run by 30,000 volunteers and employees, all ensured that the people of Israel knew they were in safe hands 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

MDA celebrated 91 years; 30,000 employees, volunteers and National Service volunteers; 14,000 Youth Volunteers;18,000 Life Guardians; 30,000 COVID 19 Ambassadors; 4.5 million volunteer hours provided by MDA volunteers; The oldest volunteer is 92.5years old; The youngest volunteer is 14years old; MDA activate a to total of 189 stations and satellite stations; 17 new stations were opened during the last year; 2,000 ambulances and MICUs stationed around Israel; 61 4x4 ambulances; 18 ATVs; 14 jeep-bulances; 24 MCRV; 2 bus-bulances; 37 bulletproof MICUs and ambulances; 5 mobile light posts; 3 COVID- vaccinations and testing caravans; 2 mobile MDA caravan stations; 525 Medi-Cycles; 34 intercity Medi-Cycles; 175 electric Bicycles;40 MERVs; 1 boat-bulance;

1,259,464 emergency callouts; Every 25 seconds MDA teams were dispatched; 682,092 patients were treated by MDA teams; 44,023 of which were from motor vehicle collisions; 248 drowning patients were treated by MDA team; 16,481 pregnant women were evacuated to the hospital; 972 births were assisted by MDA teams; 350,000 people were trained in CPR and First Aid; 547 Youth Volunteers were trained in MCI response; 439 Youth Volunteers were trained as instructors; 269,023 units of blood were collected by MDA’s Blood Services; 25% of blood donors are women; 19% of donors were first time blood donors; 27% of blood units were collected in IDF bases; MDA’s Blood Services operates 46 blood mobiles; 2 blood mobile caravans; 5,409 units of convalescent plasma were collected from recovered COVID-19 patients; 3,800 units were given (in hospitals) to 1,900 corona patients in moderate and severe condition (2 per patient); MDA Human Milk bank supplied to hospital's neonatal departments 1,400 liters of human milk to infants in need; 155 new milk donors joined the project; 138 wishes were granted by the 2 Wish Ambulances; MDA operates 2 ASL helicopters; 330 patients were evacuated by the helicopters; 1 National Mobile Command Vehicle; 3 Regional Mobile Command Vehicles; MDA teams partook in 215 emergency preparedness drills; Over 2,717,174  calls were received in MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Centers; A call was received on average every 11.5  seconds; The average answer time standing at 4 seconds; MDA placed 1,000 AEDs in public areas in 141 communities around Israel;
