At 8pm on Tuesday evening multiple calls were received at MDA's Medical Dispatch Center of a shooting with three victims in Bnei Brak. MDA teams were immediately dispatched to the multiple scenes, attending with Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU), ambulances and medi-cycles. MDA first responders were on scene within seconds of the initial reports.
Three victims were pronounced deceased at the scene at Hashnaim St. in Bnei Brak, one was pronounced deceased nearby at Herzl St. A fifth victim, a police officer who arrived at the scene and shot the terrorist, was conveyed to hospital in a MICU in critical condition, but later succumbed to his wounds. In total, 5 people were killed in this latest terror attack, the third in a recent spate of terror.
MDA EMT Menachem Englander was one of the first on scene: "I live on Hashnaim St. in Bnei Brak, and was sitting at home when I heard gunshots. I immediately headed down to the street to see where I could help, but found myself facing the terrorist with a gun pointed at me. Luckily his weapon jammed so he couldn't shoot, and I ran back into my house and called MDA's 101 National Operations Center (NOC). Once the police arrived and secured the scene, I headed back to the scene. Unfortunately there were three males in their 30s with gunshot wounds, and after initial medical checks we had to pronounce them deceased."
MDA EMT Lipa Hirsh who was at the nearby MDA station and heard the shots described the events: "We heard the shots and immediately headed towards the scene. On Herzl St. we found male in his 30s with gunshot wounds who was unresponsive and had no pulse. Unfortunately we had to pronounce him deceased. Approximately 100 meters from him we found another male victim in his 40s. An additional MDA team provided him with medical treatment and rapidly conveyed him to Beilinson hospital in critical condition. We continued to a third scene on Hashnaim St. where we found a further 3 victims, all unresponsive, and after medical checks all were pronounced deceased."
MDA EMT Daniel Amzalag conveyed the injured police officer to hospital: "The police officer was in critical condition with gunshot wounds. We immediately placed him in the MICU, fighting to save his life all the way to hospital. The doctors at the hospital continued with life-saving efforts, but unfortunately his injuries were fatal and the medical team pronounced him deceased."
