30 Mayors from Around the World Visited the Magen David Adom Campus in Ramla and an MDA Station in Jerusalem
Thirty mayors from Nepal, Panama, Macedonia, Albania, and Chile visited MDA's National Headquarters in Ramla and the Bloomberg Station in Jerusalem as part of the MuniExpo conference.
Mayors from Nepal, Panama, Macedonia, Albania, and Chile visited Magen David Adom facilities as part of the MuniExpo conference, in cooperation with the Public Diplomacy Division of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mayors from Nepal, Panama, Macedonia, and Albania toured MDA's Marcus National Headquarters and Operations Center in Ramla, while mayors from Chile visited the main MDA Bloomberg Station in Jerusalem.
During the visits, the delegations were introduced to MDA's National Blood Services Center — the world's first underground facility of its kind, processing and supplying hundreds of thousands of blood units annually to hospitals and the IDF — as well as the MDA National Human Milk Bank, which provides approximately 350 liters of donated breast milk each month, the MDA Paramedic School, and the National Emergency Dispatch Center. The mayors also viewed MDA's specialized emergency vehicles, including intensive care buses, Unimog all-terrain evacuation vehicles, emergency medicycles, and off-road vehicles, and received an overview of MDA's 35,000 employees and volunteers operating during routine emergencies and throughout the war, including Operations Rising Lion and Roaring Lion.
"During our visits to Magen David Adom, we learned about their experience and the way they respond to emergency situations," said Hortensia Mora Catalán, Mayor of Clara de Tango, Chile. "This encounter highlights for us the areas in which we can improve, and based on the successful experience of others, our mission is simply to learn and implement."
MDA Director General Eli Bin said the organization was "delighted to host mayors from Nepal, Panama, Macedonia, Albania, and Chile," adding that the visit offered an opportunity to discuss shared challenges, potential areas for cooperation, and the operational knowledge accumulated at MDA. "The mayors were exposed to the human diversity within Magen David Adom, which unites all sectors of Israeli society in the shared mission of saving lives," he said.
