Betzalel Smotrich and Michal Waldiger, Members of the Knesset representing the Religious Zionist Party, visited Magen David Adom's National Dispatch Center in Kiryat Ono. Smotrich, who is a member of the National and Civilian Service voluteers' lobby, and Waldiger, met with Director General Eli Bin who gave them a briefing of MDA's routine and emergency operations, as well as activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. They were introduced to MDA's Chain of Survival, beginning with the call to MDA's 101 Emergency Dispatch Center, through to evacuation to hospital, all while using the latest technology for patient monitoring and treatment.
The MK's showed great interest in the roles filled by National Service volunteers, whether they are Paramedics in MICUs, EMT's on ambulances, working in the Dispatch Center, or many other roles undertaken by National Service volunteers.
They were also shown a defibrillator smart stand that is controlled remotely from the Dispatch Center, and given an explanation on how these life-saving devices are widely available to the public to use in the case of a cardiac arrest.
MK Betzalel Smotrich: "The visit to MDA was short but important. MDA works tirelessly to improve the medical response. We heard about the wide range of activities undertaken by MDA, the special work done by the National Service volunteers, and about all the important work that MDA does. To come here and see lives being saved in front of our eyes is very moving. Thank you for the visit, and for everything that you do for the people of Israel."
MK Michal Waldiger: "I visited the MDA station in Kiryat Ono, where I saw a technologically advanced center that is entirely devoted to saving lives. The dedication and professionalism of MDA's staff, volunteers and National Service men and women, who give their all to save lives, is invaluable. We thank Director General Eli Bin both for the visit today and for leading this life-saving organization."
Director General Eli Bin: "We showed the MKs the vital work undertaken by the National Service volunteers - Paramedics, EMTs and Dispatchers. We presented the MKs with the plans to extend National Service options to include working in the blood bank and other areas in MDA. I thank MKs Smotrich and Waldiger who took the time to see firsthand and learn about the activities of Israel's National Rescue Organization.
