Memory at the Station: Holocaust Survivor Rachel Golani visited the MDA Petah Tikva station and shared her life story.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, remembrance takes on a deeply personal meaning. At MDA stations across the country, the stories of survivors are not just heard; they are felt, carried forward, and passed on. Last night in Petah Tikva, one such story reminded us of loss, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of life.

Holocaust Survivor Mrs. Rachel Golani

Last night, we had the privilege of hosting Ms. Rachel Golani, a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor, at the Petah Tikva station for an inspiring gathering as part of our “Memory at the Station” initiative.

Rachel shared her powerful life story. She was born in Poland and, as a toddler, was uprooted from her hometown and put on trains that took her all the way to Siberia. There, from the ages of 3 to 8, she survived the hardships of the war. She later continued to displaced persons camps in Germany, and from there immigrated to Israel.

Rachel chose to focus on her story of rebuilding and renewal.
To stand before us and proudly speak about the beautiful family she built: her children and grandchildren who serve in elite units, is the strongest possible answer to those who tried to destroy us in the past, and those who still try today.

Thank you, Rachel, for the privilege to listen, to learn, and to remember.

We will remember. We will never forget.
