MDA Paramedic Moshe Benita was sent on a routine call to a woman in labor, who was trying to get to hospital in her car. When Moshe arrived on scene, he did a rapid assessment, and informed Shlomit - the mother-to-be - "there's no time to get to hospital - we'll be delivering the baby before we arrive."

Just a few moments later, Shlomit gave birth in the MICU with Moshe assisting the delivery.

Once they arrived at hospital, Shlomit thanked the MDA team, and when she was discharged a few days later, contacted Moshe and asked him to join the family for the Brit Mila ceremony and to bring a Talit (Prayer shawl) with him. Moshe was given the honor of holding the baby as he was named - Itai.

"We were very moved by the MDA team's treatment during the delivery," said Shlomit and her husband Eliya. "Everything was so quick, and the treatment was dedicated and professional. We wanted to thank Moshe for his help and support during this incredible event. We felt that it was only right that he should play a part in the ceremony. Itai was born at the same place that many people lost their lives. But we brought life into the world in that very same place."

Speaking of the event and the special gesture, Paramedic Moshe said: "As soon as we arrived at the junction, we realized that the delivery was imminent. Moments later we delivered the baby and heard its first cry - something that is always very moving. When they invited me to the Brit Mila, I was obviously pleased to join them. The honor that was given to me by Shlomit and Eliya was a very special moment for me, and I thank them for it. I wish them Mazal Tov and good health!"
