Magen David Adom Heroes of October 7
To mark three years since the October 7 attack, Magen David Adom has launched a dedicated minisite featuring the stories of the bravery and sacrifice of MDA’s heroes, who risked their lives, stood on the front lines, and saved lives under fire

On the morning of October 7, as the terrorist attack and rocket fire began, Magen David Adom rapidly shifted from routine operations to a wartime footing.
The organization’s leadership instructed night shift teams to remain on duty. They were soon joined by the morning shift teams, doubling the personnel on duty. Available ambulances were staffed, and MDA teams began heading south from across the country to the locations where they were needed.
MDA personnel found themselves working under fire, in difficult and constantly changing conditions.
EMTs and paramedics living in communities near the Gaza border and across southern Israel left their shelters to treat casualties. Ambulances and mobile intensive care units moved between scenes of devastation. Treatment sites were set up at MDA stations, road junctions, and homes, while thousands of calls continued to pour into the 101 emergency dispatch center. Hundreds of wounded people were treated and evacuated throughout the day.
Of the many MDA personnel who risked their lives that day, twenty never returned. Seven were murdered while saving lives or on their way to treat the wounded. Another thirteen fell while serving as IDF soldiers. Many others were injured, lost friends or family members, or continue to carry painful memories.
MDA’s Heroes of October 7 Website shares some of the stories of MDA’s volunteers and employees. It is a place of commemoration, remembrance, and renewal, created to honor the fallen, recognize the heroes, and remind us all why we are here: to save lives.
