Oמ Tuesday, August 1st, at 15:39 a number of calls were received in MDA’s 101 Emergency Call Center of several people injured in a shooting terror attack near the Maale Adumim Mall. MDA EMTs and Paramedics who arrived on scene searched the area to find the victims, some of whom hid in the street and in shops in the mall.

Once the victims were located, Magen David Adom’s medical teams treated and evacuated 6 victims to Hadassah Mount Scopus and Shaare Tzedek Hospitals, including: a 41 year old male in serious condition with gunshot wounds to his upper body, a 37 year old male in moderate condition with gunshot wounds to his limbs, a 29 year old male in moderate condition with gunshot wounds to his limbs, a 28 year old male in moderate condition who was shot in the abdomen, a 14 year old male in moderate condition shot in his upper body, and a further victim in mild condition. All the victims were fully conscious on evacuation.

MDA EMTs David Turjeman and Shabtai Aharon: “When we arrived on scene we saw two males aged 29 and 27, lying by the entrance to the mall, fully conscious with gunshot wounds to their limbs. We provided them initial medical treatment including bandaging and stopping the bleeding, and they were evacuated in MDA mobile intensive care units (MICUs) in moderate, stable condition to hospitals in Jerusalem. During their treatment we received further reports of further victims in the mall. Additional MDA teams who arrived searched the area and treated 4 victims in serious, moderate and mild condition.”

MDA Paramedic Oren Brill, who evacuated the seriously injured victim to hospital: “Civilians called to enter a restaurant where there was a 41 year old conscious male with gunshot wounds to his upper body. We provided life-saving medical aid, stopping the bleeding and administered medications, and rapidly evacuated him in serious condition to hospital. Following a primary assessment in the trauma room, he was rushed to the operating room.”

MDA Paramedic Miryam Sharvit: “Along with other security services, we searched the scene that was complex due to the fact that some of the victims escaped and hid in shops in the mall. The injured who were all conscious, suffered gunshot wounds. We placed one of the victims, a 29 year old male with limb injuries and evacuated him to hospital in stable condition while providing medical treatment. During the journey the victim told us that he was in a restaurant with his wife and 5 year old daughter when they suddenly heard gunfire. He hid his wife and child in the bathroom and headed outside to make contact with the terrorist. When he left the building, he was hit by gunfire."
