From an Asthma Attack to a Magen David Adom Helicopter Tour
Eitan Grossi, 5 from Sderot is already familiar with MICUs and hospitals due to repeated hospitalizations for his asthma. During his most recent asthma attack, an MDA MICU led by Paramedic Kobi Zeltzer rushed to his home.
The little Eitan, who suffered from severe difficulty breathing, was afraid of the IV needle, of the medications and tubes of the oxygen mask, which were required for to treat him. When MDA paramedic Kobi met Eitan, he acted with extraordinary sensitivity and extreme patience, in order to make Eitan's treatment as pleasant and calm as possible. After Eitan returned home from the hospital, Kobi contacted Eitan's family and invited them for a fun day in the ambulance and MDA and Lahak helicopter at Sde Teman near Be’er Sheva, in order to provide a positive experience for Eitan and make him smile.
Amit Grossi, Eitan's mother, said: "We called MDA because of Eitan's severe respiratory distress and Kobi came to us. As soon as he saw Eitan, they formed immediate connection and Kobi made sure to calm him down and was patient and sensitive. When we arrived at the hospital, Kobi promised Eitan a positive experience and indeed a few days later suddenly the phone rang and Kobi invited us to visit MDA.
On the extraordinary experience, she added: "When we arrived to Sde Teman, Kobi gave us a tour that included the MDA helicopter and the ambulance. "He did everything to bring Eitan a smile, this time in a calm and pleasant timing, with the medical equipment used by MDA in order to alleviate the fear and explain the treatment he will receive in the future. We want to thank Kobi and wish him to always continue inspiring people." Eitan, 5, said excitedly, "I was very happy to see the MDA helicopter from the inside, it was a very special experience."
Kobi Zeltzer, an MDA paramedic, said: "When I entered Eitan's house, I saw a lovely boy with a very understandable anxiety from needles and syringes. I treated him with sensitivity and patience, just as if he were my son and offered the family a remedial experience after they were discharged from the hospital. I was very happy that they arrived and I gave them a tour in our helicopter and ambulance, Eitan's eyes sparkled and it definitely enhanced his experience. I wish him good health and most importantly - that we will meet in the future only in happy circumstances. "
