Magen David Adom Participates in the National Emergency Drill 'Turning Point'

02.11.2021 09:10

This week, a 'national home front' drill took place, in which the emergency organization in Israel took part, including Magen David Adom, the Home Front Command, the National Emergency Authority, the Israel Police, Israel Fire and Rescue and other organizations. The emergency drill led by National Emergency Authority simulated a multi-scene scenario, in which the Israeli home front is under heavy barrage of missiles and riots due to a nationalist background within the country and included headquarters drills and field drills alongside them.

During the week, Magen David Adom teams, Israel’s National Emergency Medical and Blood Services Organization and one of the bodies that make up the Home Front Command participated in drills around the country. As part of the drill, MDA teams practiced evacuation under fire of an institution for a special population in Kibbutz Dafna, a scenario of a multi-casualty incident during evacuation of a village in Kfar Yuval and triage of wounded (evacuation of wounded after initial treatment in a hospital close to remote hospitals) to Shaare Zedek in Jerusalem. The triage was carried out using MDA ambulances and the MDA special intensive care bus, which allows the evacuation of up to 13 victims at a time, including two patients who require advanced medical care at the mobile intensive care level. The MDA bus was already in operational use when it was necessary to move a large number of Corona patients between nursing homes and in the great fire in the Galilee landscape last year.

Eli Bin, MDA Director General: "Magen David Adom, which is one of the four components of the Home Front Command, takes part in the national drill every year as part of maintaining the organization's competence in operational readiness and transition from routine to emergency. Throughout the year in cooperation with the security and emergency bodies, with the aim of providing the best, fastest, most professional and most efficient response to Israeli citizens during routine and emergencies. "MDA workers and volunteers, who work around the clock in saving lives in Israel, understand the magnitude of the responsibility placed on their shoulders and will perform their part in the exercise on the best side so that Israeli citizens know in an emergency, they have someone to rely on."
