Deputy Defense Minister visits MDA
"You are the ones of the front line... Providing the fastest and best response"
Deputy Defence Minister Alon Shuster MK (Blue and White) visited MDA's National Operations Center (NOC), accompanied by MDA Director General Eli Bin and other members of the senior management team.
The Deputy Minister was given a comprehensive review of the organization's activities, toured the NOC, learnt about the overall staffing and in particular about the tens of thousands of volunteers, and became acquainted with the widespread activities led by MDA as Israel's National Emergency Service. The Deputy Minister also heard about MDA's nationwide activities as well as the cooperation between MDA and other rescue organizations that work under MDA's auspices.
The Deputy Minister heard about the MDA Blood Services, the cooperation between MDA and the IDF, in particular the use by special units such as search and rescue (669) of full blood units to save lives in the field. He was introduced to the public access defibrillator project that are located in remotely operated smart stands that can be used by any member of the public, even without any medical training, to give electrical shocks in the case of cardiac arrest, and save lives. There was also a review of the 2020 Project - MDA in the Community - that will improve the treatment given by MDA and will help reduce overcrowding in the Emergency Departments.
Deputy Minister Alon Shuster MK: "I was pleased to visit MDA's NOC today alongside MDA Director General Eli Bin. I am grateful for all that is done by the staff and volunteers, for choosing to save lives and to make the world a better and safer place. You are the ones out in the field, during routine times and times of crisis, and you know how to give the fastest and best response. I will continue to stand by your side and help you to continue saving lives every day."
MDA Director General Eli Bin: "Alon Shuster, who was once the head of the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council and is today the Deputy Defense Minister, is very active in all things to do with security, especially in the periphery. I hope for all of us that you will keep filling security roles for the benefit of the State of Israel. There are four bodies in the Israel that act under government law - IDF, Israel Police, Fire and Rescue, and MDA. MDA is the only organization that does not have a government budget arrangement - and the state expects the organization to be prepared for emergency situations. There is no body in the world that is expected to be prepared for crisis and war that doesn't receive a budget. I thank the Deputy Minister for all that he does, and for his work to strengthen Magen David Adom and its activities to benefit the citizens and residents of the State of Israel."
