A ceremony held last weekend welcomed the new volunteers to the the front line

A ceremony was held last weekend to mark the completion of several Magen David Adom courses in Ashkelon. At the event, attended my local mayor Tomer Glam, MDA Lachish Regional Manager Haim Karadi, and Ashkelon Station Manager Eitan Lasri, youth volunteers along with others who had completed the various courses held a multi-casualty incident drill.

The mayor congratulated the graduates, and presented 47 new first responders who had just completed their EMT course with lifesaving equipment. Alongside them, 97 new youth volunteers joined Ashkelon station, that now has some 500 volunteers, including 300 youth volunteers and 200 adult volunteers.

Mayor Tomer Glam: "Over the past few years, Ashkelon has been in full partnership with MDA in training the staff and volunteers. This is due to the understanding that there is a vital need to have people who can provide primary medical response in times of a medical emergency. I congratulate the new volunteers on joining MDA's lifesaving activities, giving of their own time to do so. This is a great example of social cohesion."

MDA Lachish Regional Manager Haim Karadi: "We congratulate the dozens of new EMTs and youth volunteer first-aid providers on choosing to save lives by joining Magen David Adom. I have no doubt that with your help we will be able to provide rapid, professional and efficient medical care for the residents of Ashkelon and the surrounding area. I would like to thank the Ashkelon municipality along with its head - Tomer Glam - for their long-time support over many years of Magen David Adom.
