MDA team saves the (wedding) day!
Just a couple of hours before her son's wedding, Vivian fell and dislocated her shoulder. An MDA team came to her rescue.
With an hour and a half to go before her son's wedding, Vivien dislocated her shoulder.
An MDA team consisting of volunteers went out of its way to make sure that she would arrive on time to witness the important event. This meant an unusual operation to beat the clock. The MDA team, headed by Senior EMT Eran Rave, conveyed the patient to the nearby Terem clinic in Modiin, explaining the situation and requesting that she be treated as quickly as possible. But Vivien, who was in a great deal of pain, required extra painkillers before she could be treated.
The MDA team decided to wait until the treatment was completed and the shoulder put back into place, and then headed to the wedding with Vivien on the ambulance stretcher. They walked into the hall just as the wedding was about to begin. The guests and the family were overjoyed to see the mother of the groom arriving and asked the MDA team to join them in the photos.
Senior EMT Eran Rave: "Vivien was in extreme pain when we arrived to treat her. Her son told us that they were on the way to his brother's wedding and when she opened the car door, she dislocated her shoulder. When I approached her, I told her we would make sure to get her to the wedding. I called the clinic in Modiin and told them that we were on the way. We accompanied her throughout her treatment, waited for the shoulder to be put back, and then took her to the wedding. We walked in to the hall with her and the family's reaction reduced us to tears. It brought us a great sense of satisfaction to know that we could keep our promise to Vivien, ensuring that she could stand with her son under the chuppa as he got married.
