Ruby's Special Birthday

18.01.2023 10:11

Ruby celebrated her birthday with the MDA team that saved her life just 3 months earlier

On a September Friday night, Ruby Efraim started to feel unwell, told her husband she felt dizzy, and then collapsed in cardiac arrest.
Efi, her husband, immediately called MDA's 101 Emergency Call Center, who dispatched first responders on medicycles, as well as a mobile intensive care unit. The MDA EMT who took the call started giving Efi CPR instructions.
MDA first responder Uriel Cohen, along with the MICU team started performing CPR, including 4 shocks from the defibrillator, until her heart restarted.
Ruby woke up in Soroka Hospital the following day - and thanks to MDA's rapid response, from the call center to the first responders to the MICU team - with no lasting damage.
"It was really important for me to meet this incredible team. I can't begin to describe the feeling as they sat in my home. While my husband Efi was on the phone to them, they explained how to do CPR. It is so important to receive that help on time."
She recently celebrated her Hebrew birthday, and invited the MDA team to join her for a thanksgiving celebration - and special birthday party - in her home.
