Kiryat Shmona Hesder Students Return to City and Donate Blood
Dozens of students from the Kiryat Shmona Hesder Yeshiva returned to their permanent residence in the city with the start of the ceasefire
Upon hearing about the severe shortage of type O blood, MDA volunteers studying at the yeshiva, Eliya Yashiv Briner and Gilad Zeev Kart, organized a blood drive together with MDA Blood Services where Hesder Yeshiva students donated 70 units of blood that will help save the lives of approximately 210 people.
Kiryat Shmona Hesder Yeshiva students and MDA volunteers Eliya Yashiv Briner and Gilad Zeev Kart: "Every 3 months, we made sure to conduct blood drives with MDA Blood Services at the yeshiva. At the start of the war, we evacuated to Moshav Nechalim and continued the life-saving tradition there".
"Now that we've returned north, it was important for us to conduct a blood drive both to maintain this important life-saving tradition and of course to assist all patients and wounded who need blood. We are both approaching meaningful military service and we're transferring this important responsibility to a first-year student, MDA volunteer Yedidya Klerman, who was naturally one of the blood donors in this drive".
Many of the yeshiva students are helping with the city's rehabilitation and caring for residents. The yeshiva students who volunteer with Magen David Adom also serve as rapid response personnel and strengthen MDA's medical response in the city and surrounding area.
