After beating Cancer twice, Liat decided to volunteer at MDA – and this past week she joined Magen David Adom's Medicycle Unit

Liat Cihan Nachmany (40), an MDA volunteer EMT in Petah Tikva, recently joined Magen David Adom's Medicycle Unit. After beating cancer twice, she felt a deep desire to be on the other side – a medical provider and not the receiver of medical care – and began volunteering with MDA.

"This is something that is with me during every treatment I provide, I am able empathize with any patient I get to. One of the main reasons I chose to join MDA's Medicycle Unit was from a desire to always see and do what I can provide in the medical field," said Liat.

A few days ago, during a transfer of injured soldiers from the Beilinson Hospital's Helipad into the hospital, Liat transferred a soldier who was injured in combat in Gaza and asked him how he was doing: "I asked him if he spoke to his family, and he asked if I can help him with that. I called his mother and he spoke with his family. The following day, his mother sent me a picture of him after he was operated on and recovered, and I was very excited; this is a true privilege."
