New Blood Mobile in Memory of Rabbi Lord Sacks
MDA UK and the Jewish News in joint venture to donate a new blood mobile vehicle
A ceremony was held this week at the Marcus National Blood Services Center to dedicate a new blood mobile vehicle. The vehicle was donated through MDA UK and the Jewish News in the UK. The ceremony was held in the presence of senior members of MDA management including Deputy Director Generals Dr. Eli Jaffe, Alon Fridman, and Prof. Eilat Shinar, Director of MDA Blood Services. Also present were representatives of MDA UK and the Jewish News, as well as Lady Elaine Sacks and other members of the Sacks family.
Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, in whose memory the blood mobile was donated, was the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, and a giant of world Jewry. His quote "At the heart of Judaism is the principle of the sanctity of life" adorns the side of the blood mobile and serves as the reminder of the importance of Magen David Adom's mission in Israel and across the world.
Lady Sacks said: "To remember my dear husband in this life-saving way, here in Eretz Yisrael, feels so very special." She thanked MDA UK and the Jewish News, as well as the many sponsors, in particular the Bloom and Kirsch Foundations. She was presented by Alon Fridman, Deputy Director General and CFO of MDA, with a Mezuza of the type that has been placed on the doors of the new Blood Services Center.
