Last September, Tali Conn was out for a walk with her family and their dog near their home in Holon, when a 900kg street light collapsed and hit Tali on her head and legs. MDA Paramedic Naomi Tzvi and MDA EMT Eliya Bitton arrived on scene, provided her with lifesaving treatment and pain relief, and then conveyed her to the trauma unit in Tel Hashomer Hospital. She underwent several complex operations and is still undergoing long-term rehabilitation.

Tali met the EMT team last weekend at her home, just 100 meters from where the street light collapsed.

Tali Conn: "I lost consciousness after the street light collapsed. I remember them rescuing me and Naomi fighting for me from the very first moment. She calmed me down during the journey and took charge in the field. When we arrived at hospital, Naomi promised me that everything would be OK, and we were separated. Once I left hospital and began the period of rehabilitation, I remembered what she said to me as we were on the way to hospital - "You're a lioness!" Her words inspired me then and they inspire me now. I'm so pleased to meet Naomi a year after that terrible event".

MDA Paramedic Naomi Tzvi: "When we received the initial report of the collapsed street light, that weighs almost a ton, all sorts of things go through your mind. We prayed that we would still have a patient to treat. We fought for Tali in the field and on the way to hospital. Meeting her today for the first time, a year later, as she stands her with her family and hugging her daughters, is a very emotional moment".
