MK Amichai Shikly visits MDA
"What I saw here really gives a sense of the scope and strength"
MK Amichai Shikly (Likud) visited Magen David Adom's National Operations Center (NOC) where he was accompanied by MDA Director General Eli Bin and members of the senior management. MK Shikly received a comprehensive overview of the organization's activities, had a tour of the NOC, heard about the staff situation, in particular about the tens of thousands of volunteers, and was presented with a review of the wide range of activities led by MDA as Israel's National Rescue Organization. The member of Knesset also heard about MDA's activities all across Israel, and all the rescue organizations that work under the auspices of MDA.
MK Shikly heard about MDA's Blood Services, and the fact that despite the fact that Israel's National Rescue Organization is required to be permanent high alert and responds to events on a national level but does not receive any government funding. He was briefed on the MDA in the Community project, the aim of which is to reduce the pressures on hospital emergency departments, was exposed to advanced technology that was developed by MDA, and met the NOC staff as well as front line staff and volunteers.
MK Amichai Shikly: "I met Magen David Adom as a civilian, and already had a very positive impression. But here I understood the scope and the strengths, as well as the gaps that exist, some of which are untenable. I hope that we will able to fix those."
MDA Director General Eli Bin: "I thank MK Shikly for his visit to Magen David Adom, Israel's National Rescue Organization, in order to learn and hear about our activities, and to see first hand all we do for Israeli society."
