02.11.2022 11:18

Salem was at the entrance to the hospital in an MDA MICU when he suffered a cardiac arrest and was revived by the crew

Salem Abu Karinat (48) felt unwell during a routine drive in his car, he called his brother and together they started driving to a local clinic. During the journey, the pain increased, they dialed MDA's Emergency 101 Call Center and an MDA MICU was dispatched, headed by paramedic Gal Mor Yosef and MDA EMT Omri Abu Jama, who met them near the Dimona intersection. The team immediately began medical assessments and quickly diagnosed that Salem was having a heart attack, the paramedic Gal and the medic Omri began medical treatment that included administering medication and coordinated their arrival with the cardiac care unit at Soroka Hospital.

When they entered the hospital parking lot, Salem lost consciousness and collapsed. The team immediately began advanced resuscitation operations and electric shocks from a defibrillator, thanks to which after seven intense minutes the pulse returned and Salem's life was saved.

After regaining consciousness in the intensive care unit, Salem was admitted to the hospital for further medical treatment and was released to his home a few days later, without medical damage.

A few days ago there was an exciting meeting to close the circle in which Salem met Omri and Gal again, this time at his home when he was fully conscious.

MDA EMT Omri Abu Jama: "Salem collapsed right when we were at the entrance to the hospital, inside the MICU. We immediately started advanced resuscitation operations that also included electric shocks from a defibrillator until his heart started beating again. Meeting him again, this time with a smile and fully conscious, was a special moment for us."

Salem Abu Karinat said: "I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart the dear team of MDA who saved my life and did not give up on me. I remember getting into the ambulance and that was it, later I already found myself in the hospital undergoing cardiac catheterization. I was very excited to meet the team again and thank them for fighting for me. Thanks to them I am here, standing on my feet."
