Teams from MDA's Ayalon Region held a Championship Competition to test their skills and knowledge against each other

The annual "Championship" competition of MDA's Ayalon Region, testing the skills, knowledge and preparedness of the regions' crews, took place recently in Moshav Beit Elazari. Twelve teams participated in the competition - 6 ambulance (BLS) crews and 6 mobile intensive care unit crews (ALS/MICU). They faced challenges in a variety of simulated emergencies.

The teams consisted of EMTs, paramedics, staff, volunteers and youth volunteers who arrived in ambulances and MICUs to simulations that would assess their active preparedness. The simulations included: CPR, trauma from a traffic accident, HAZMAT situations, chest pain, anaphylaxis, stroke, and more.

At the end of the competition the teams all arrived at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot to hear a lecture from the Manager of the Emergency Room, Dr. Arkady Shklyar, on the subject of resuscitation and ECMO. The lecture was planned and arranged by the ER Trauma Manager Liraz Danin.

The winners of the competition were announced after the lecture - in the MICU category, the team from Rehovot Station, and in the BLS category, the team from Bat Yam Station.

Ofir Shaish, Regional Deputy Director and Medical Supervisor: "The competition was held with the aim of strengthening and improving the teams' preparedness during routine and emergency times. The competition brought professional, highly-motivated teams who acted in full cooperation in order to improve their life-saving skills. I congratulate the teams from Bat Yam and Rehovot for their wins!"

Efi Bar, Ayalon Regional Director: "Magen David Adom is constantly active, dealing with routine and emergency situations, and we are constantly improving the crews' readiness. The competition proved once more the teams' abilities and the value of MDA's human element. I congratulate the winners and wholeheartedly trust the staff who save lives on the front lines every hour of every day, and thank Kaplan Hospital for their professional collaboration."
