"This time I arrived without a siren and without running, just to meet him and give him a hug"

Guri, 68, from Kiryat Ono collapsed in cardiac arrest at home about a month ago. Senior EMT Edita Loris who works at MDA's 101 Emergency Dispatch Center immediately sent a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) to the scene, as well as first responders, and started by giving CPR instructions over the phone. MDA EMT Tzvika Lehrer was the first person on scene, arriving within minutes. He began CPR, and shocked Guri's heart with the defibrillator until it started beating again on its own.

The MICU team continued the treatment and conveyed Guri to hospital, where he recovered prior to returning home.

MDA EMT Tzvika Lehrer: "It's very exciting to return to Guri's home. This time I arrived without sirens, and without running, just to meet him and give him a hug. To see Guri standing on his own two feet and with a smile on his face, gives us - MDA EMTs and Paramedics - the strength to keep going and fighting to save the life of the next patient too."

Guri added: "It was very emotional to meet Tzvika. The last time we met I was unconscious, and today I'm standing here and can thank him for everything that he did and for my family, by providing CPR and using the defibrillator."
