Minister Benjamin (Benny) Gantz, chairman of Hamachane Hamamlachti Party, visited the Magen David Adom station in Ashkelon today (Sunday), where MDA paramedics, EMTs and doctors work to respond to every call and medical need. Minister Gantz met with MDA teams who operated in the Western Negev Communities under fire and heard about their activities while risking their lives to save lives.
Minister Gantz received a comprehensive review from MDA Director General Eli Bin on the activities of MDA teams in the field since the beginning of the war on Black Saturday (7.10), on MDA's blood services that have collected over 50,000 units of blood since the outbreak of the war in order to treat the casualties, the National Milk Bank, which Magen David Adom operates and provides safe breast milk to babies who have been orphaned, whose mothers have been kidnapped, injured or murdered, and to babies of mothers who have been recruited into the IDF. The minister also heard about the unique tools, including bullet-proof ambulances and MICUs that allow Magen David Adom teams to save casualties while reducing the risk to their lives, and about MDA paramedic Amit Man and the senior MDA EMTs Aharon Chaimov and Aviya Hatzroni who were murdered by terrorists in Ofakim and Be’eri.
Minister Binyamin (Benny) Gantz, chairman of Hamachane Hamamlachti Party: "I want to express a very, very big appreciation. You are clearly largest mass of the first medical response in the field. You are the largest across the country and that is absolutely clear. The system should of course rely on you. There is no doubt that MDA For all its size it is the main thing. Many people of course owe you their lives. I want to thank you very much, to the Director General, to the commanders, to the regional directors and to the each of the responders and EMTs at the dispatch center.'
Eli Bin, MDA Director General: "Magen David Adom is facing war together with the State of Israel. A war that was imposed on us. Bloodthirsty murderers mortally wounded and murdered thousands of people, including MDA EMTs and paramedics who were still wearing gloves from when they were saving lives. MDA's workers and volunteers, Arabs and Jews, religious and secular, all took care of everyone. I would like to thank Minister Gantz for taking time out of his schedule and coming to visit and strengthen the Magen David Adom teams who work around the clock to save lives in the State of Israel."
