Alberto's Hanukkah Miracle
On the forth night of Hanukkah, Alberto Rodrigues (41) a California resident who was in Israel for business, began to feel unwell at the Israeli office of the Armis Security company in Tel Aviv, in his capacity as EVP Customer Success. Fortunately, he was able to alert his colleagues about his condition before collapsing and losing consciousness. His colleagues immediately called the MDA 101 dispatch center, answered by MDA EMT - Dispatcher Eden Davidov who instructed them, over the phone, diagnosed the medical emergency and ordered them to bring and connect the AED. Eden guided them, step by step, how to connect and activate the AED, after administering an electric shock and performing chest compressions, Alberto regained consciousness and his life were saved.
Minutes later the MDA Paramedic MICU team arrived, Alberto was fully awake, and they evacuated him to the hospital for further treatment, a few days later he was discharged without any brain damage, thanks to the fact that the AED was accessible, a few meters away, the immediate response of his colleagues and the guidelines that Eden provided over the phone from MDA dispatch center. On Thursday (Dec. 9th 2021) a few hours before Albert boarded the airplane back to his family in California, the two met.
Alberto Rodrigues, Armis Security employee: "I'm here, healthy and alive due to so many things that came together – my alert colleagues, Eden at the MDA Dispatch Center, that professionally guided them and the AED that was nearby and prevented massive damage. I believe that there is a reason for everything; I thank the almighty that my life was saved in a Chanukah miracle. Thanks to Eden that explained to my colleagues how to activate the AED, I'm flying tonight to hug my wife and children, this is a feeling one cannot express in words. I'm so excited to be here, this is my private Chanukah miracle".
Eden Davidov, MDA EMT Dispatcher: "I'm so excited to see Albert standing on his feet, smiling and full of joy. The simple resuscitation acts that his colleagues performed following my instructions over the phone and the fact that an AED was in place saved Alberto's life. Knowing that thanks to these, Alberto is flying home, to dine the Shabbat Dinner with his family is worth so much to me".
