Tuesday, (4 July) a very special event was held at the MDA Eilat station – the completion of the Sefer Torah in memory of former MDA Eilat's station and resident of the city, Menachem Hopan z"l.

Attending the event were Eilat's Mayor, Eli Lankri, Eilat's chief Rabbi Yossef Hecht, chief of Eilat's Beit Habad, and Gabi Barivo, MDA chief of Eilat's Region. The event was also attended by volunteers and employees of the station, family and friends of Menachem Hopan and many other residents.

After finishing the writing ceremony, those attending continued with a parade to Beit Habad where the Sefer Torah was presented to the synagogue.

The dedication of the Sefer Torah as requested by Menachem z"l in his will, formed a special moment of bonding between Beit Habad and MDA's Eilat station.

Gabi Barivo, MDA chief of Eilat's Region: "When I started working as an EMT ambulance driver, Menachem who was positioned as the station chief, welcomed me to the position. Standing in his position today and holding this event in his memory was a heartfelt moment  which provided me with closure.
When I received the request from Rabbi Hecht to conduct the ceremony at our station, we were more than happy to fulfil this request. It's an incredible way for us to honor the name of Menachem z"l, a loving and generous man who always found ways to help and save lives."
