100 year old Holocaust survivor rescued from Kiev and brought for treatment by MDA teams in Moldova

In an operation that included 14 hours in an ambulance, the 100 year old Holocaust survivor arrived safely at the clinic set up jointly by Magen David Adom and Ichilov Hospital following a request from the Jewish community in Kishinev, Moldova.

Following the successful rescue, the survivor was taken for health checks and treatment by the medical teams at the clinic. They also ensured that she was housed in the same hostel as the teams in order to ensure that she remains under their care and supervision, and that they can keep her company until she makes Aliya and moves to Israel.

Magen David Adom Paramedic Haim Levin, and Dr. Rim Albasel from Ichilov Hospital told: "Over the past month, she has been in a life-threatening situation, so once she'd arrived at the clinic after her ordeal, we made sure to welcome her warmly. We checked that she was healthy and made sure to find her accommodation in our hostel – that way we can keep an eye on her until she leaves for Israel. We heard about her experiences during the Holocaust, her personal story and the difficult journey that she endured. We got to see the look of calm on her face as she saw the Magen David Adom symbols, with the realization that after a month of fighting, she was finally in safe hands."
