Maccabiah protected by MDA
Magen David Adom has been providing medical cover for the Maccabiah Games for many years, and this year is no different, with the 21st games underway.
The 21st Maccabiah Games began with an opening ceremony on 14th of July with a spectacular ceremony in Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. Magen David Adom will be providing medical cover for the games, covering training sessions, events and even providing medical care at the hotels in the evening.
Ten thousand competitors, teams and supporters, in 62 delegations from 58 countries are in Israel for the games.
Thousands of MDA EMTs and Paramedics will be on duty throughout the Maccabiah Games at sporting events that will be taking place in arenas across Israel. The teams will be utilizing a wide range of vehicles including ambulances, MICUs, 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, as well as MDA helicopters on standby. MDA nurses will be on duty at the hotels in Jerusalem, as well as central and northern Israel where the participants will be residing.
MDA's National Operations Center has opened a dedicated unit that will be in command and control of all the Maccabiah events. Special attention will be given to events in the open air, such as the triathlon, half marathon, bicycle races and others, as these events are particularly vulnerable to the Israeli heat. Special treatment tents will be set up, and medicycle units will accompany these events too.
MDA Director General Eli Bin: "MDA, as Israel's National Rescue Organization, covers major events throughout the year, and we are proud to be a part of the 21st Maccabiah Games. We have provided medical care for the Games for many years, working alongside the Maccabiah management and all the relevant authorities. MDA is prepared to provide rapid, professional and quality medical treatment to anyone who may require it throughout the events and the participants' visit to Israel. I wish all the contestants good luck and hope that they have a good time."
