MDA Youth Volunteers Lead the Way!

22.02.2023 13:56

Hundreds of MDA's Youth Volunteers taught thousands of members of the public on National Defibrillator Day

Drive, determination, a keen volunteer spirit and professionalism are what define Magen David Adom's Youth Volunteers across the country.

These 15 - 18-year-olds undertake intensive study before volunteering on MDA ambulances and MICUs, and many of them train to become instructors too.

These volunteers were the spearhead of MDA's National Defibrillator Awareness Day, held in conjunction with Mifal Hapayis (Lottery Commission) and the Israeli Ministry of Education. The youth volunteers attended their own schools to teach their colleagues and staff how to do CPR, where to find the nearest defibrillator, and the importance of using it in any case of cardiac arrest.

Some of the schools had the advantage of not only being instructed by their own students, but by those students' parents too, many of whom are volunteer EMTs and Paramedics in Magen David Adom.

Once school was over, the youth volunteers headed to shopping malls, medical centers, movie theaters, and many other public locations, and continued their teaching, but this time to thousands of members of the public, who were taught in three easy steps:

1. Call MDA on 101 for help!

2. Begin CPR

3. Use a defibrillator

Today, thousands more people in Israel can help save lives along with Magen David Adom.
