Saving Lives on the Street
Two weeks ago, a special dedication ceremony was held in Nof Hagalil in honor of the Street Defibrillator station donated by Magen David Adom Ireland. The defibrillator was donated by both friends of MDA Ireland and the Tomkin Family in memory of Dr. Alex Tomkin, a physician and supporter of MDA in the 1980's, marking MDA Ireland's first donation to MDA Israel in recent years.
The special ceremony was attended by Mr. Kyle O'Sullivan, Ambassador of Ireland to Israel, Mr. Simon Baron, Deputy Mayor of Nof Hagalil and MDA manamgent and teams from the Gilboa region. The ceremony was broadcast on Zoom for the Dublin Jewish Community and attended by Mr. Alan Shatter, Chairman of MDA Ireland, Mrs. Julie Tomkin, and Mr. Maurice Cohen, Chairman of the Jewish Representation Council of Ireland.
For every minute that passes without treatment from the moment of cardiac arrest, the chances of survival decrease significantly. The defibrillators allow any person who calls MDA’s 101 emergency call center in cases of cardiac arrest to not only receive guidance to perform CPR, but to provide a life saving electrical shock to the victim.
