Intelligence Minister visits MDA
"Donating blood is always important, but it is especially so at the moment!"
Intelligence Minister MK Elazar Stern visited Magen David Adom's National Medical Dispatch Center (NMDC) in Kiryat Ono. The Minister met with MDA Director General Eli Bin who gave him an overview of MDA's routine activities, emergency situations, the Corona pandemic and the assistance being provided to refugees from the war in Ukraine. MK Stern also heard about the shortage in blood supplies.
During the visit, Minister Stern was shown how MDA's chain of survival works, for the moment the call is received on 101 at the NMDC and through to the patient being conveyed to hospital, using advanced technology that allows constant and live monitoring of the patient, both in the ambulance and in the Medical Dispatch.
The visit to the NMDC, Minister Stern showed a keen interest in MDA's Blood Services, being a regular a blood donor himself. He also heard about the national service program in MDA, saw a defibrillator smart-stand, and learned of their widespread public access across Israel, making them rapidly available in cases of cardiac arrest.
Intelligence Minister, MK Elazar Stern: "They don't waste time in MDA, always ready everywhere to assist and save lives. During my visit to the NMDC I asked to personally check the readiness for blood donations, and when we checked and saw that three and half months had passed since my last donation, I was able to donate again. Blood donations are especially important at this time of the year, especially with all religions marking celebrations. Go give blood - and Chag Sameach to everyone!"
MDA Director General, Eli Bin: "I thank Minister Stern for his cooperation and for taking the time to become better acquainted with MDA's routine and emergency activities. His blood donation today was especially important at this time and will boost the State of Israel's supplies and help others. Each blood donation can save the lives of patients. I thank the Minister for his ongoing concern for the citizens and for his ongoing assistance to our activities."
